Freshflow raises €6.5 million to bring the first AI for Fresh Replenishment to every Grocery Aisle in Europe
Big news! Freshflow has successfully secured €6.5 million in new funding to accelerate roll-outs of the first AI platform in Europe built for Grocery Retailers’ Fresh Departments. The round is led by World Fund, Capnamic, Venture Stars, Caesar Ventures and Catatumbo Capital, who are all doubling down on their previous investments in Freshflow.
Berlin / Paris — 20 May 2025
Rocket-fuelled by retailer success
The funding round comes on the back of extremely fast growth in Freshflow’s retail customer base and a stream of glowing references from leading French and German grocers.
Fresh produce departments using Freshflow's AI for their daily ordering have experienced a sales uplift of 2-5%, as well as a food waste decrease of 20%+.
According to Bastien Gelin, CEO of Groupe Yabe, among the largest Carrefour franchisers in France: “We have been working with Freshflow's AI for 9 months. Thanks to the application and Freshflow’s team, we have radically improved our process in the fresh produce departments. We have seen strong results: more inventory turns, less waste and more freshness.”
These successes have created a wave of inbound demand from retailers that the company is now gearing up to meet with this new funding.
Built for the neglected, chaotic heart of the store: fresh departments
Existing forecasting and replenishment tools crack under the chaos of fresh departments—loose berries, two-day shelf lives, unreliable inventories, local suppliers, messy PLU data—forcing produce managers to still order manually, based entirely on intuition. This leaves grocers with out-of-stocks, higher waste and an extreme dependency on finding experienced produce managers. Freshflow flips that script:
Produce-first AI that ingests messy, fast-moving data and still delivers the perfect order.
Probabilistic forecasting + constraint optimisation that balances demand swings, floor constraints and 350+ signals (incl. weather, holidays, promos).
Co-Pilot app that any produce manager masters in minutes, replacing guesswork with data-driven confidence.
With fresh capital in hand, we’re significantly accelerating product development and expanding Freshflow's team. We've already grown from 15 to 30 team members over the past year, now planning to hit 50 this year.
With this setup, we move one step closer to our goal of reducing food waste across the entire fresh food supply chain.
Better order recommendations, new fresh product categories, moving up the supply chain to DCs, much better support for our customers – 2025 will be an incredibly exciting year for Freshflow.
This is just the beginning
